The Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally

SATURDAY 14TH SEPTEMBER 2024

August 15th, 2022

Entries open for the 2022 Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally

Motorsport will return to the forests of Dumfries and Galloway next month, when the Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally takes place on September 10th.

The event, which has been running since 1974, will tackle six competitive stages in the Galloway Forests, where Event Organisers Solway, Machars and East Ayrshire Car Clubs have planned a compact route.

The 48th running of the event will mark 22-years of devoted title sponsorship from Dumfries-based Construction and Renewables specialists, The Armstrong Group. The event is also a grateful recipient of funding from Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Major Festivals & Events Strategy.

Having been recipients of the ‘Coogie Urquhart Quaich’ for Best Event in 2021, ‘The Hills’ will again be the penultimate scoring round of Scotland’s premier mixed surface rally series, the KNC Groundworks Motorsport UK Scottish Rally Championship. The event is also a counting round of the HRCR Motoscope Northern Historic Rally Championship, which will bring a host of historic-specification cars to the entry list.

The event will be using a GPS Tracking system for the first time, supplied by RBI-Sport. Developed over the last five years by an international team of ex-drivers and co-drivers whose involvement has been up to and including WRC level as both competitors and officials, the GEOTRAQ system is the first FIA-certified tracking system in the world, and will be used in the UK for the first time on our event in September.

A small army of Volunteers are required for the smooth and safe running of the event, and Marshals Registrations are also now open on the website, for anyone who should wish to assist. It doesn’t matter whether you have masses of Marshalling experience, or virtually none; we will welcome you and help you find a suitable role on, as you can ‘buddy up’ with an experienced Marshal on the day. A short registration form for Marshals and Radio Operators can be found on the event website. The event is extremely grateful to all the Marshals, Radio Operators, Stage Safety Personnel, and everyone else who will assist on the event.

Spectators will have free access to four of the six stages located within the Galloway Forest complex, and detailed information will be posted on the event website nearer the time.

Supplementary Regulations have now been published in the Competitors section of the website, along with the Online Entry Form.
