Regulations available for the 2025 Armstrong Galloway Hills Rally
Regulations for the 50th Galloway Hills Rally – sponsored by The Armstrong Group for 25 years – have been released today by co-promoters Solway, Machars and East Ayrshire Car Clubs.
The event will take place in the Galloway forests of Black Loch and Cairn Edward, with each being used twice in one direction and once in the opposite direction. The stages chosen are ones which have been popular with competitors in the past, and the event organisers are confident they are of a suitable condition and construction for this. The total number of entries will be capped at just 60 cars to ensure the stages remain in the best possible condition for all to enjoy.
In a change to recent years, the Service Area will be based on hardstanding ground in the East Ayrshire town of Dalmellington, where the event will also Start and Finish from. Depending on what best suits their logistics, competitors will have the choice of two different pre-event scrutineering venues; one in Ayr and one in Dumfries. Very limited spaces will also be available on Saturday morning in the Service Area.
The 50th running of the event will mark 25-years of devoted title sponsorship from Dumfries-based Construction and Renewables specialists, The Armstrong Group. The event is thankful to the whole Armstrong Family for their continued sponsorship and enthusiasm, and also to all individual Event Partners and suppliers for their support.
A small army of volunteers are required for the smooth and safe running of all events, and the event is extremely grateful to the Marshals, Radio Operators, Stage Safety Personnel, and everyone else who will assist on the event. Marshals Registration can be found on the website.
While the reasons which prevented us from running an event in 2024 are still present and the situation has not improved, we are keen to celebrate our 50th event. Declining numbers over recent Scottish events have led us to readdress our 2025 offering from what we originally planned to run, but we are optimistic this amended format can work for the level of entries we hope we can achieve.
Co-promoters Solway, Machars and East Ayrshire Car Clubs look forward to welcoming Competitors, Marshals and Spectators to join them on some of the best stages south west Scotland has to offer for a celebration of fifty years of competition and camaraderie at “the Hills”.
Entries will open on Friday 15th August at 8pm.
